Be Informed! Middle East Conflict from a Catholic Perspective

Teresa Tomeo portraitIt has been a difficult week to watch the news of the horrific war that broke out in the Middle East. Our team at Catholic Connection are committed to providing you information from our expert sources, with ties to Israel and the Vatican, so we can look at this situation through the lens of scripture and the teachings of Holy Mother Church.

EWTN Host and renowned Old Testament Scripture Scholar, Fr. Mitch Pacwa, S.J., among his many qualifications, is an expert on Hebrew language, history, and culture. He has led 65 pilgrimages to the Holy Land as well as authoring numerous books, including two on the Holy Land. He & I discussed the recent history of the area, what has happened and the long road that lies ahead.

My other interviews about Israel this week, are with Bible scholar Jeff Cavins, who explains how he escaped the country when the attacks began; Joan Lewis who gives us the Vatican perspective, and Steve Ray who has led pilgrimages to the Holy Land over 200 times and tells us about the history of Palestine and the plight of the Christians in the war zone.

We urge you, on this Feast of Our Lady of Fatima to pray the Rosary for peace. The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, is asking Catholics to pray and fast for peace in the Holy Land on October 17th. Our Lady of Fatima, Pray for Us!

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”  —John 16:13

Pray & Fast for Peace October 17th

Catholic patriarch calls day of prayer and fasting for peace in the Holy Land – Catholic News Agency

Prayer for Peace

Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. Our Lady asked us to pray the Rosary every day for peace. I would also like to share with you a prayer for peace featured in the Our Lady, Queen of Peace Chapel in the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception:

“God our Father, Creator of the world, you establish the order which governs all ages. Hear our prayer and give us peace in our time that we may rejoice in your glory and praise you without end. Mary, Queen of Peace, look upon us kindly. Through your prayers obtain for us the gift of peace which Your Son promised. We ask this through the same Lord Jesus Christ, Prince of Peace, Son of God, Son of Mary who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen”
