Okay, so it’s not exactly shocking that MSNBC leans heavily to the left when it comes to their news coverage. No kidding. But what is shocking is how engrained that bias actually is. This became abundantly clear when one of their hosts oh so casually let the proverbial cat out of the bag, and right on live TV no less, revealing that extreme bias and how it plays directly into what most of us knew all along; the media are all about promoting a leftist agenda and getting the American people to swallow that agenda hook, like, and sinker. This latest example of just how much the press is in the tank for liberals should be yet one more red flag for Catholics and others concerned about where they get their information.
The eye-opening moment came from Mika Brzezinski, co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” news talk program. She commented Wednesday morning, how upset she was that the President, according to her assessment of reality, is honing in on the media’s precious territory of yes – mind control.
“He is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think and that is our job.”
One could write a book, or several books for that matter, on the levels of hypocrisy in that statement. This is the same network that was among the many discovered to have been colluding with the Democratic party before the presidential election. And don’t get me started on playing fast and loose with facts. Say what you will about President Donald Trump, but the secular media, with all of the many factual faux pas, exaggerations, along with plenty of instances of fake news, are not exactly in a position to accuse the President or anyone else for that matter of inventing or “making up facts.”
After viewing the clip, ask yourself some questions: What’s more shocking? Is it the fact that this media person had what appears to be no hesitation at all in making such a statement on live TV? Is it the very calm and casual way in which she made the statement; reminding her viewers about the apparent role of the press being to “exactly control what people think?” Is it her own lack of follow-up after admitting to media mind control? And what about the other giant elephant in the living room that also happened to be sitting right smack in the middle of the “Morning Joe” anchor desk? Didn’t anyone else in that studio cringe at all? What about fellow host Joe Scarborough, and the panelists with them at the time of the on-air discussion? Why didn’t any of them, somebody somewhere near Mika Brzezinski, for crying out loud, at least make some sort of attempt to address or maybe temper what she said? None of them looked even remotely concerned or surprised. Their silence really speaks very loudly and clearly to the extent of the bias and the arrogance of the press. Brzezinski, didn’t bat an eye. She didn’t stumble. She just stated ever so naturally her righteous indignation concerning how the President of the United States was, again according to her, moving in on their own personal version of “The Matrix”.
Apparently, someone over at MSNBC must have received a few e-mails or interesting Facebook comments. Or perhaps they were made aware of how they were being called out by conservative news outlets for their oh so Freudian moment. Brzezinski later released a statement through Twitter, and a very weak one at that, saying basically something to the effect of “oh gee whiz. Silly me. Telling people how to think is not our job after all.” She actually Tweeted that “the media’s job was to keep President Trump from making up his own facts. Not that it’s our job to control what people think.” Who knew? And if anyone believes that major backstroking move of a statement, then I have some, as country singer George Straight would say, ocean front property in Arizona I would like to show you.
I continue to pray for the secular media. We should all being doing that. In addition to praying they open their minds and hearts to truth, and to reporting that truth – which by the way is their “real” job description. I also pray that until that happens, fewer and fewer people, especially Catholics and other concerned Christians, will watch, listen to, or read what much of the secular press have to say. When it comes to MSNBC, the good news is that one of my prayers has already been answered: MSNBC, after all, remains at the bottom of the ratings barrel when it comes to cable news outlets. God is good indeed!
